Madison Bus Redesign Coalition
Transit for All
(PDF)
Responding to Metro's route redesign approved in June 2022
Who We Are: An alliance of concerned Madison area residents and organizations advocating for a public transit system for all.
What We Believe: Madison needs a first-rate transit system with rapid and local buses that balances the goals of ridership, coverage, accessibility, environmental sustainability, and organizational efficiency.
Public transit is a public service, not a business. Its purpose is to get people where they need to go and should not focus primarily on ridership or profit.
Frequent service without reasonable access to people of all abilities is not transit equity.
BRT service should not come at the expense of local routes.
Madison area residents deserve to know the honest truth about how public transit is being budgeted.
What We Want: A transit system with equitable access everywhere, including to infill and old and new peripheral developments
Increased sustainable funding for Madison Metro beyond 2019 levels to ensure both sufficient coverage and more frequent service.
Meaningful public engagement by a wide diversity of stakeholders, especially those in disadvantaged groups and workers in a wide variety of sectors.
A real voice in the review of the Equity Analysis.
Using stakeholder feedback to further shape the redesign plan.
